Manama : Indian Hashim V K (48) died of illness last night at his residence.

He felt chest pain after dinner at his Sitra flat from where he was taken to the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), a source said.

His body which is kept at the SMC morgue will be repatriated to his hometown in Punalur, in the south Indian state of Kerala, once paper works are completed, social worker K R Nair told DT News.

He worked as a work supervisor at Almannai International Trade in Ma’meer.

Hashim is survived by wife Zamzama, children Hayaz and Hijaz who are in India and Hazika who is a student at the Indian School Bahrain (ISB).

Hashim has been living in Bahrain for around 30 years and his wife is an Arts teacher at ISB's West Riffa campus.

"Since the death happened at his flat we have to get a clearance certificate from the police, after which the body will be repatriated. I have spoken to the company where he works and they assured all help," Mr Nair said.
