Kabul: Pakistan confirmed conducting 'planned and calibrated' military attacks inside Afghanistan, claiming the operation targeted insurgent hideouts. Meanwhile, Afghan authorities reported that the strikes killed nine civilians, including women and children, and injured another 11.
The strikes coincide with escalating cross-border hostility and accusations from both governments. Pakistan has accused the Taliban leadership of allowing militant groups, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), to operate from Afghan territory and launch strikes into Pakistan. Kabul has often denied that it shelters anti-Pakistan extremists.
Pakistan said that such operations are carried out in response to attacks and other security threats emanating from Afghan territory, while Afghan officials have criticized the strikes and recorded civilian casualties.
The ongoing violence has strained relations between the two countries, with international efforts by China, Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation.
