Closing arguments will be heard on September 29 in the trial of a former colonel accused on grounds of arms possession.
Seven others are also being tried along with him in this case.
All the accused allegedly possessed machine guns, pistols and ammunition between 2011 and 2014 without obtaining permission from the competent authorities.
Six of accused claimed they were being paid wages between BD400 and BD700 by the former colonel to guard him.
It is worth to note that the Lower Criminal Court sentenced the former colonel to three years in prison for embezzlement in October last year.
The court held him guilty of stealing a BD1,250,000 cheque, which was given to him by an overseas company that was planning to establish a poultry company in Bahrain.
Since the local regulations do not allow foreigners to operate companies in Bahrain without local partners, they sought the help of the accused who pledged to pour in BD10 million to co-found the project.
However, when his partners paid their share, the accused deposited the amount to his account and started ignoring them.
