Works are on the way to enhancing and upgrading Bahrain's road safety measures in line with international standards.

The move is part of the Bahrain Road Safety Assessment programme (BAHRAINRAP) to set future strategies, plans and safety interventions, for which the ministry has also launched a tender.

The tender invites engineering consultancy firms registered with CRPEP, Bahrain, under Grade A, B and C, on or before the Tender issue date.

The contract duration as per the tender is 12 months. Interested parties should enter their bids before the 7th of September 2022, with a BD100 bond and BD100 tender fees.

The project will follow the parameters of the International road assessment programme (iRAP), which will provide the ministry with an evidence-based approach to road risk assessment. iRAP is a registered charity dedicated to saving lives by eliminating high-risk roads around the globe.

The agency works with governments, road authorities, mobility clubs, development banks, NGOs and research organisations. The tender is for assessing and producing a risk mapping and the star rating of the 400 kilometres of major road networks in the Kingdom.

The project also calls for conducting a star rating of five projects at the design stage and ten schools.
