Fake news creates buzz on social media

Manama : Don’t jump the gun, especially before confirming news reports. That’s what reminds us of the ‘news’ about a woman, who drove her SUV into the sea on Karbabad beach on Thursday.

The photograph of the news claimed that the woman was accompanied by a child, and they were rescued by the locals. It went viral on social media along with the picture showing the SUV in water.

Later, it turned out that it was a prank by some people, who must have had a laugh riot by watching the entire hullabaloo on social media networks.

Finally, the pranksters posted a video of a child lifting a miniature model of the same SUV from water. “This is the truth about the reports of the woman, who drove her vehicle into the sea,” the caption on the video says.
