European arrested for running bogus employment company

Manama : A European resident has been arrested for running a bogus employment company and duping a number of job-seekers.

The General Director of Anti- corruption and Economic and Electronic Security said that an inquiry was launched following online reports about a company that cheated on unemployed people and took their money, promising them jobs.

The department contacted some of the victims who reported fraud cases and launched investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect.

The General Director said that the legal proceedings are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution. He called upon job-seekers to double check employment ads on social media to avoid being victims of fraud cases and report suspicious cases by dialing 992.
