Decree to boost Hawar Islands development

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Decree (115) of 2024, establishing the Higher Authority for Hawar Islands Development, based on the proposal of the Prime Minister and following the approval of the Cabinet. Under Article I, a Higher Authority for Hawar Islands Development, referred to as the “Authority,” is established.

It shall be chaired by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), with the following members: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa; the Minister of Finance and National Economy, the Minister of Oil and Environment; the Minister of Works; the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning; the Minister of Tourism; the Minister of Industry and Commerce; the CEO of the Economic Development Board; the CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company; the CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA); and two private sector representatives appointed by the Chair of the Authority.
