‘Tech sector offers best growth opportunities for skilled women’

Women in the technology sector may face a number of challenges unlike their male counterparts, but they can still succeed in the industry with the right amount of grit and ambition.

This was the message from a visiting expert, Teresa Carlson - Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector, Amazon Web Services, to Bahraini woman.

She gave an inspirational talk yesterday to a crowd of start-up owners and female entrepreneurs during an event organised by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and C5 Nebula to discuss ways to increase women’s representation in technology and develop a more inclusive workforce.

“As a female member in the tech industry sometimes you are the only female in the room, but you need to speak up and make your voice heard. For me it is a little different as I am there as a leader but if you are an individual contributor sitting at the table you really need to make sure you are vocal.
