Manama: Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa called for the need to conduct a study on the situation of farmers to work out adequate solutions to the challenges facing them, such as land ownership. Princess Sabeeka also urged to grant them agricultural licences to benefit from the available services, like other investors.

HRH the Princess praised the Bahraini farmers’ participation in the Bahrain International Gardens Show (BIGS) and their keenness on improving the quality of the their products.

Princess Sabeeka asserted that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s constant support to the BIGS had contributed to the success of the event. She also commended the role of national and private institutions to NIAD for the success of the BIGS 2016.

“The high visitor turnout, the quality of the exhibited items and the increasing number of exhibitors are a reassertion of the need to hold such annual meetings for those interested in agriculture,” Sabeeka said.

The Princess was speaking yesterday in a meeting with a number of Ministers and representatives of sponsors of BIGS 2016, in the presence of the members of NIAD Advisory Board and the Committee of King Hamad Prize for Agricultural Development.

HRH Princess Sabeeka also honoured the winners of the first edition of the King Hamad Prize for Agricultural Development, launched on the sidelines of BIGS.
