The suspected killer of a Bahraini imam yesterday pleaded guilty before the High Criminal Court, it is learnt.

This was the 35-year-old Bangladeshi national’s first appearance before the court along with the second suspect in the case.

Meanwhile, the second suspect pleaded not guilty at the hearing, stating “he was unaware of his co-defendant’s intentions” to murder imam Abduljaleel Hamood.

According to sources, the suspect hit the imam with an iron rod on his back and head until the victim fell unconscious. “He then cut the imam’s body into pieces and kept them inside plastic bags.”
