The decision was made following a proposal by the Minister of Health and the approval of the Cabinet.

Under the resolution, the committee will be chaired by the Minister of Health, with membership including representatives from key government entities:

The Head of the Tobacco Control Group at the Ministry of Health’s Public Health Directorate will serve as the committee’s rapporteur.

Committee members will serve a renewable three-year term.

The resolution also allows the committee to seek input from experts and specialists when needed, without granting them voting rights.

The decree cancels Resolution No. (40) of 2022 regarding the previous formation of the committee.

The Minister of Health and relevant authorities are tasked with implementing the provisions of this resolution, which will take effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
