Attempts to smuggle drugs worth around BD 1 million dinars into Bahrain was busted by the Anti-Narcotics Police, it was revealed.

The Director-General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science said that four men in two separate incidents were arrested for the crime at the Bahrain International Airport. The operations were made in cooperation with Customs Affairs. The suspects are all aged between 24 and 40 years, with three of them hailing from Asian countries.

Police received a tip-off that the men who were part of a drug network were attempting to smuggle drugs into Bahrain via the airport. An investigation was immediately launched after confirming the authenticity of the information.

A 34-year-old man who was trying to smuggle about 2.5 kilograms of narcotics was caught first. Other suspects were arrested when customs officers grew suspicious about a 40-year-old passenger. Around 3.5 kilograms of narcotic substance was confiscated from him. Further investigations revealed the involvement of other suspects. The case is now proceeding.
