Forming a terror group: 10 face trial

Ten Bahraini men had formed a militia group and named it Bahraini Hezbollah whose activities were inspired by Lebanese terrorist organisation Hezbollah, according to court files. Their case will be heard today.

They were exposed last year after carrying out several attacks across Bahrain.

The 10 men, however, have been arrested are standing trial before the High Criminal Court on grounds of founding and joining a terrorist group and possessing arms.

The defendants allegedly possessed arms, which they used against police officers. It’s said that the group’s funds had been provided by the second and seven defendants. The Public Prosecution said the defendants recorded their attacks and uploaded them online.

They are said to have damaged a police patrol when they attacked it in an effort to kill the police officers, who were in the vehicle.

They commenced their activities on June 23, 2014 before being arrested.
