Embassy Prepares Repatriation of Bangladeshi Worker Killed in Manama

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Manama confirmed it is arranging the repatriation of a Bangladeshi expatriate killed when debris from an intercepted drone struck him during an Iranian attack, in the maritime facility near Mina Salman. The victim, S.M Tareq, 48, died early Sunday morning during the attack. His body is currently at the morgue of King Hamad University Hospital, and a death certificate has already been issued.

The embassy is coordinating with Tareq’s employer, friends, and family both in Bahrain and Bangladesh. Preparations to return his body to Bangladesh will begin once flight operations resume in the kingdom. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the RC Drydock area of Manama, where Tareq worked as a supervisor. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Tareq's wife and only daughter currently live in a rented home in the Boubazar area of the city. He had worked in Bahrain for 27 years, supporting his family back home. Relatives described him as a devoted husband and father whose sudden death has left a deep void in their lives.

The Bangladesh Embassy expressed its condolences and stated that two other Bangladeshi nationals were critically injured while on duty aboard a vessel undergoing maintenance at the shipyard.

Following the incident, H.E. Mr. Md. Rais Hasan Sarower, ndc, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, visited the injured workers at King Hamad University Hospital. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and offered support for the injured.

Tareq’s employer expressed condolences on behalf of the company and the Bahraini government and confirmed that all necessary arrangements for repatriation would be completed promptly.

The Bangladesh Embassy continues to maintain communication with authorities, colleagues, and relatives to ensure full support for the family during this difficult time.
