News reports stating that a booby-trapped vehicle was detected in Riffa, a few hours after the terrorist explosion took place near Al Anoud Mosque in Dammam, Saudi Arabia yesterday, was denied by a senior official.

Stating on his Twitter account, Southern Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa confirmed that the reports circulated through local social media accounts were rumours.

“The news is false and police patrols were regularly inspecting vehicles on roadsides,” the Governor clarified.

He also urged social media users to commit to the principles of credibility and honesty before spreading false news and attempt to link it to regional developments.
