The High Criminal Court sentenced an Asian man to five years behind bars for robbing BD120 from his roommate, also Asian. The pair were living together in a room at a labour camp and the victim was hiding his wallet under his pillow. The defendant is said to have stolen the wallet and found the ATM card inside it along with the pin code.

He headed to an ATM and withdrew BD120. The victim discovered his card was stolen upon receiving an SMS notifying him of the transaction. He headed to Al Hidd police station and reported the robbery and pointed his finger to the defendant, because he was sharing with him the same room. Police officers arrested the suspect who admitted to his crime.

The defendant revealed that he bought groceries for BD75 and purchased mobile credit cards for BD45. The defendant was held guilty of fraud and robbery. He will be deported from Bahrain once he serves his punishment.
