Arab National to Face Criminal Trial Over Mistreatment of Children with Disabilities

The Head of the Family and Child Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution has ordered the criminal trial of an Arab national accused of mistreating children with special needs.

The prosecution received a complaint from the Ministry of Social Development, which, during its routine inspection of rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities, observed—through its judicial officers—that the suspect, an employee at one of these centers, physically and psychologically abused the children under his care.

The Public Prosecution immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the complaint. It heard testimonies from the judicial officer of the Ministry of Social Development and the general manager of the rehabilitation center where the suspect worked. The prosecution also reviewed security camera footage that documented the abuse, interrogated the suspect, and subsequently ordered his referral to criminal court.
