The wait is over. The all-new Jaguar XE 2016 is here. It is the Jaguar’s first entry into the compact executive market since the Mondeo based X-type left us – but the time lag was worth enough for moto-fanciers, the XE means real business.

The XE is really having a tough job to topple the compact big daddies like the BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C Class. The best in Jaguar XE is the blend of stunning looks with cues derived from the F-Type sports car, with a powerful turbo charged petrol engine and the feel and flavor of a high-end premium luxury saloon with the Leather clad interior.

Petrol-wise, the XE is available with a fantabulous 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing close to 237bhp, while 3 -litre Supercharged V6 stuns you with a whooping 335bhp and turns the XE into a performance saloon. May be the all-new Jaguar XE is not quite as astute as 3 series, but not far off the German benchmark and XE offers a GT like approach with relaxed and a comfortable drive.

Jaguar XE is with different trim level, starting with the entry-level SE and moves to R-sport and Portfolio specs. The 2-litre turbo petrol engine with 237 bhp is available in higher spec R – sport and Portfolio trims and a V6 available in XE S trim level.

The XE comes with a new Incontrol touch infotainment system with full connectivity supporting both Apple and Android smartphone along with standard navigation and cruise control coming as standard equipment.

Styling is all that matter for an automobile fancier, the Jaguar XE is having a conservative look, but when seeing the Jaguar XE on road, gives us a pleasance of real road feel. The looks of XE extend through the range from the XJ and the XF with wide slim headlight, an upright grill and a low sleek bonnet.

The XE ‘s blade LED head lights make the front wide as the F-Type style rear lights. The low roof line at the back gives a coupe like feel with the big wheels pushed out to the corner. The inside is simple and stylish with wraparound fascia looks reminding us about the XJ, giving us a welcome feel. The standard kit includes the touchscreen navigation, keyless go, cruise control and the XE comes with a panoramic sunroof and a self park system.

The 2 litre Turbo charged petrol engine is smooth, punchy , and efficient. The Jaguar XE throttle response is in fact wild and the refinement is excellent. The gearbox is smooth and responsive, the steering is sharp and there is minimal body roll even though the wheels are bigger. The ride is calm because of the standard –fit adaptive dampers which suits on all roads and surfaces.

Cars like Jaguar XE are none other than a vehicular equivalent of a branded watch or a Lacoste or a polo shirt. It is not a vehicle as its own, it is an aspiration, ambition, a desired cherish. Even at it’s beyond par brand value, it is affordable enough to tempt buyers, stretching their annual budgets.
