Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) management and Alba Labour Union announced yesterday that they have reached an agreement on the BD20 allowance, which will be submitted to the Alba Board for approval on June 10.

As part of the agreement, it was decided that the BD20 allowance would be granted for the year 2015, consistent with prior practice. It was also agreed to develop joint recommendations over the next six months to help the company manage cost challenges faced by the aluminum industry.

Commenting on the agreement, Alba’s Chairman of Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Al Khalifa stated, “We are pleased to find common ground with the Alba Labour Union on this subject. We look forward to working with the Union and developing ideas that will sustain Alba for future generations.”

Alba Labour Union Chairman Ali Bin Ali expressed his happiness over the agreement. “We are happy to have reached an agreement with the company on the BD20 allowance. I would like to thank the Alba Chairman, Board of Directors and the management for their constant support and listening to the concerns of the Alba workers. We have a long history of supporting the company and, I am confidant that working together with the management, we will find ways to improve the performance of the company,” he said.
