‘Bedazzled by gold’

The latest accessory in fashion is the ‘24-carat Gold or Platinum tattoos.’

It’s like jewellery on the body but more fun.

Like second skin, the tattoos are very comfortable and are meant to be used for a special occasion.

The trend has been quite popular among the fashion conscious and who wouldn’t want to wake up with gold bracelets, rings and even necklaces?

Depending on the brand, the tattoos last up to three days or can easily be removed with alcohol-based solution (I’d rather the tattoo wears off on its own).

Dior, this season presented a limited edition collection of temporary 24-carat gold tattoo, truly extravagant.

One of my favourite jewellery designers, Jacquie Aiche also has gold tattoos with necklaces, charms, pendants rings and bracelets. Design includes her signature horn collection.

The tattoos are also sold here in Bahrain in a number of Beauty Salons. I purchased mine from the Sparks Beauty Lounge in Isa Town.

A brand called ‘Gold Sin,’ is 24-carat gold and prices range from BD3 to BD18, depending on the design and how large the pattern is.

I went all out and got the biggest one in yellow gold. They come in yellow and white.

I personally love mixing both; I love the look of layering a lot of bracelets. This way I was able to literally start from my wrist up to quarter way of up my arm! It looked so beautiful especially since it glistens and the shine is absolutely divine!

They lasted five days as beautiful as when I first had them on. To be honest, I couldn’t wait for them to fade or rub off.

I just scrubbed them off with my loaf and added oil so not to irritate the skin.

Most importantly, when applying it, the skin has to be dry — no oil or cream applied on it — so that the tattoo stays directly on the skin.

Gold tattoos are a fun way to dress up a simple outfit; a little butterfly on the wrist can also be enough of a statement. And of course, Eid is round the corner. It’s an excellent accessory you would want to adorn yourself with.
