UAE Rental Market Shifts to Monthly Payments: A Major Change for Tenants and Landlords

Manama: The United Arab Emirates rental market is undergoing a significant transformation, moving away from the traditional, cumbersome system of post-dated cheques to more flexible monthly rent payments. Tenants in major hubs like Dubai were required to pay rent using one to six post-dated cheques, often months in advance. This necessitated accumulating a substantial upfront sum, creating a major financial barrier for many residents.

Property Finder, a leading real estate portal, has announced a strategic partnership with and investment in Keyper, a platform designed to facilitate rent payment in 12 monthly instalments. This shift provides unprecedented budgetary flexibility, allowing residents to spread their payments out and manage their finances more effectively. Tenants will be able to make these monthly payments conveniently via card or direct debit.

The new system is also beneficial, offering a stable, predictable monthly income stream. Furthermore, the increased payment flexibility is expected to lead to a potentially higher occupancy rate for their properties. The new payment system will be integrated directly into Property Finder's application and website, with a full launch anticipated in the first half of 2026. This move signals a modernising trend in the UAE's real estate sector, making housing more accessible and financially manageable for residents.
