Omani Group Performs ‘Asrar’ in Egypt

The Omani “We Create with Disability” arts group performed its play “Asrar” at the Small Theatre of the Egyptian Opera House as part of the International Festival of Arts for People with Disabilities.

The performance attracted strong audience interest and highlighted human and social issues related to people with disabilities, including their right to inclusion and active participation in society.

The group is taking part in the festival with a 27-member delegation of people with disabilities, presenting a variety of artistic and theatrical performances. The play “Asrar” was written by Abdullah Al Balushi and directed by Issa Al Subhi.

The play explores several issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities and sends a clear message about their ability to play an active role in society.

It also focuses on women with disabilities and their right to have a family and live their lives normally. The performance addresses hearing disabilities through a song written by the group, while people without disabilities also take part in the play to promote the message of inclusion.

Abdullah bin Shaker Al Balushi, head of the group, said this is the group’s third consecutive participation in the festival.

He said the performance received a positive response from the audience and addressed several issues, including the challenges faced by women with disabilities.

He stressed that disability should not prevent women from having a family or living a normal life.

The performance also brought together people with different types of disabilities alongside people without disabilities, reinforcing the group’s message about the importance of inclusion and equal participation in society.
