Washington DC: Donald Trump has warned that any Iranian fast-attack boats coming close to the US naval blockade around Iran’s ports will be destroyed immediately.

In a social media post, Trump claimed that most of Iran’s navy has already been destroyed, saying 158 ships were sunk during the conflict. He added that only a few smaller “fast attack” boats remain, which the US had earlier not considered a major threat.

The warning comes after the US announced a naval blockade on Sunday, following failed talks with Iran in Pakistan.

The blockade, which began at 14:00 GMT on Monday, applies to all ships entering or leaving Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.

Trump stressed that if any of the remaining Iranian boats approach the blockade, they will face quick and forceful action.
