Brussels, Belgium: European Union chief Ursula von der Leyen declared attacks on civilian shipping in the Black Sea "unacceptable" on Tuesday.

Her strong condemnation followed drone strikes that hit two commercial vessels near Bulgaria.

Writing in an online statement, von der Leyen described the maritime security developments as "very concerning".

She emphasized that authorities are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incidents.
