Teenagers jailed for bomb prank

Manama : A Bahraini court has upheld the three years of imprisonment handed down to four Bahraini teenagers in connection with a bomb hoax case.

They reportedly placed a fake bomb near a local bank in Sitra in September 2015, with the intention of creating panic among citizens and residents, court files revealed.

The first and fourth defendants have been arrested after police investigations uncovered their involvement in the case.

During interrogation, the fourth defendant said that he had seen the first and third co-defendants constructing the device at the house of the third suspect.

“My duty was to cut wires and fix them in the device. After we finished, I went to a cold store. Later, they informed me that they had placed the bomb near the bank. They also prevented me from going to the area,” he added.

The High Criminal Court revealed in its verdict that it had handed down the defendants ‘mercy sentences’ considering their age.
