Strong Winds Sweep Across Bahrain

The Meteorological Directorate of Bahrain, under the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, has reported strong wind gusts across the kingdom on January 21, 2026. Measurements taken at 1:00 PM local time show northwesterly winds affecting key areas, in line with recent cold weather forecasts.

Recorded Wind Gusts:

  • King Fahd Causeway — 33 knots

  • Bahrain International Airport — 31 knots

  • Sitra — 30 knots

  • Durrat Al Bahrain — 30 knots

  • University of Bahrain — 23 knots

  • Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club — 31 knots

The strongest gusts were recorded at the King Fahd Causeway. These winds are expected to bring cooler temperatures, occasional dust or sand in some areas, and may impact outdoor activities, driving on bridges and causeways, aviation, and marine conditions.

Authorities advise the public to exercise caution in open areas, secure loose objects, and follow updates from the Ministry regarding road, transport, or sea safety. The weather is expected to remain cold with some clouds throughout the day.
