Bahrain and France reaffirmed their strategic partnership, stressed closer coordination at the United Nations Security Council, and exchanged views on regional security challenges, including maritime stability in the Strait of Hormuz, during talks between their foreign ministers in New York on Sunday.

The meeting took place between Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot at UN headquarters on the sidelines of Security Council sessions.

They exchanged perspectives on recent regional developments and their impact on international peace and security, with particular attention to concerns over potential disruptions to maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for global trade and economic stability.

Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaihi, Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaleq Saeed, Head of Coordination and Follow-up at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hatem Abdulhamid Hatem, Head of the International Organisations Sector, and accompanying officials attended the meeting.
