Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation on Saturday, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, ongoing diplomatic efforts, and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Moscow and Tehran.

According to official statements, both leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, with a particular focus on recent diplomatic engagements involving Iran and the United States. President Pezeshkian briefed President Putin on the Iran–US talks held in Islamabad on April 11, outlining Tehran’s assessment of the discussions and thanking Russia for its consistent political stance on international platforms aimed at de-escalation.

Pezeshkian also expressed appreciation for Russia’s humanitarian assistance provided to the Iranian people, highlighting continued cooperation between the two countries amid regional challenges.

In response, President Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to continue supporting political and diplomatic solutions to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. He emphasized Moscow’s willingness to facilitate dialogue and contribute to efforts aimed at achieving a “just and lasting peace” in the region. Russia, he added, will maintain active engagement with all relevant regional partners to support stabilization efforts.

The conversation also included a brief exchange of greetings, with President Pezeshkian extending Easter wishes to President Putin and Orthodox Christians in Russia.
