BUCHAREST: A technical report finalized by Romanian state experts has unequivocally confirmed that a drone that crashed into a residential building in Galați was a Russian-origin Geran-2.

President Nicușor Dan announced on Sunday that detailed physical and chemical analyses of the recovered fragments proved Moscow's forces are solely responsible for the incident.

The cross-border strike, which occurred on Thursday night during Russian raids on neighboring Ukraine, represents the first time a drone has hit a residential building outside Ukrainian territory since the 2022 invasion began.

The high-impact collision hospitalized a 14-year-old boy and a 53-year-old woman. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Bucharest for establishing clarity against Russian manipulations
