Representatives, Shura financial committees hold third meeting

Financial and Economic Committees of the Representatives and Shura councils yesterday held their third coordination meeting on the State budget draft law for the years 2019-2020.

The two sides agreed on the importance of controlling the operational expenses of ministries and government bodies to avoid extra burden on the state budget. They highlighted to continue work to stabilize the public debt and financial sustainability by restructuring the state budget to balance revenues with expenses by 2022 to harmonize with the government action plan to achieve the state financial balance.

Chairman of the Representatives’ committee, Ali Ishaqi, said the Representatives stressed maintaining the quality of public services, chiefly in the education sector, health and housing. He added a joint meeting with the government would be held in the presence of Education and Housing ministers to learn about the operational budgets and plans of the ministries.
