The month of Ramadan is likely to begin in Oman on April 14, Wednesday, media reports quoted Oman’s Head of the Hijri Calendar Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs

According to the Times of Oman report, Mazen Al Mafraji, the Head of the Hijri Calendar Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, said: “The first day of Ramadan will be, God willing, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, according to astronomical calculators and Eid Al Fitr will fall on May 13, 2021, Thursday.”

“The astronomical calculations made about the crescent of the month of Ramadan for the year 1442 AH, indicate that on Monday, April 12, 2021 – that is on Sha’aban 29, 1442 AH – the moon will be in the conjunction phase at exactly 6.31 am, and the sun will set at 6.27 pm,” Al Mafraji said.

The newspaper quoted him saying that viewing the crescent of the month of Ramadan will be very difficult, or not possible throughout the Sultanate.

“Accordingly, Tuesday, April 13, 2021, will be the completion of the month of Sha’aban and Wednesday, April 14, 2021, will the beginning of the month of Ramadan for the year 1442,” he added.
