The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun preparations to facilitate the upcoming by-election for the House of Representatives in the first constituency of Muharraq Governorate.

The election, scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2024, will be conducted at Bahraini embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions abroad, as per Ministerial Decree No. 59 of 2024 issued by the Minister of Justice.

\"The Ministry is working closely with the Higher Committee for General Supervision of the Integrity of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, particularly through the Consular Services Sector. This collaboration involves informative meetings between diplomatic mission staff and the committee to ensure a smooth voting process, including the counting of ballots and the announcement of results,\" the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Further, the Ministry urged all eligible Bahraini citizens residing abroad to prepare for the election by ensuring their passports are valid. \"Citizens can renew their passports either through their nearest embassy or online via the Bahrain.bh website. A valid passport is a mandatory requirement for voting,\" the statement stated, adding: \"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is leveraging its experience from previous elections to ensure a seamless process for overseas voters. This commitment reflects the importance of upholding national gains and contributing to their strengthening,\"

The Ministry also emphasized its readiness to promptly address any inquiries from Bahraini citizens abroad through the Kingdom\'s diplomatic missions or the Ministry\'s Consular Services Sector.
