MP calls for urgent upgrades to Southern District infrastructure

Parliament will take up a proposal on Tuesday to upgrade infrastructure in the Seventh District of the Southern Governorate, as concerns grow over outdated roads, drains and basic services in an area seeing a steady rise in homes and buildings. The proposal, put forward by MP Dr Ali Al Nuaimi, calls on the government — through the proper bodies — to carry out works suited to the district’s current state.

The area, once sparsely built, is now thick with new developments, but the groundwork laid in earlier years has struggled to keep pace. In the supporting note, Dr Al Nuaimi argues the district’s growth has outstripped the old systems meant to support it.
