A minor fire broke out in one of the small warehouses at the Salmaniya Medical Complex was brought under control in the early hours of yesterday without causing any injuries.

The fire hit storage belonged to one of the wards in the complex, said the CEO of government hospitals, Dr Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ansari, in a statement.

The incident activated the hospital’s emergency evacuation plan, and security services moved several patients to other wards as a precautionary measure.

The fire was also quickly reported to the General Directorate of Civil Defence as other first responders hurried onto the scene.

Dr Al Ansari said things are under control now, and the hospital has resumed its normal activities.

“A full investigation is on into the root causes of the accident in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defence,” added Dr Al Ansari.

He further stressed the keenness of SMC in ensuring higher health and safety standards at all times to provide patients and visitors with the best services.

In another incident on Friday, The Civil Defence tweeted that they managed to put out a fire that broke out in a car on King Faisal street without causing any injuries.

The initial investigation confirmed a leak in the fuel line sparked the fire.
