July 2022 temperature ‘slightly warmer than normal’ in Bahrain

The month of July 2022 was slightly warmer than normal in temperatures with below average wind speed. This was based on the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Meteorological Directorate’ monthly weather summary. The mean temperature of the month was 35.4°C which is 0.3°C above the long-term normal for July and this goes on record as the ninth highest mean temperature for July since 1902. This is the same as in July 2008 and 2011.

The highest mean monthly temperature for July was 36.9°C recorded in 2017 and 2020. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 39.2°C which is 0.5°C below the long-term normal. Note that the highest mean monthly maximum temperature for July was 42.1°C recorded in 2017. During the month, Bahrain had 10 days with a maximum temperature exceeded 40°C. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 43.3°C which occurred on the 19th July at Bahrain International Airport.

The highest temperature recorded for July at Bahrain International Airport was 47.4°C which occurred on July 15, 2000 and July 13, 2010. The highest temperature recorded in the month at Bahrain International Circuit was 46.3°C and at Durrat al Bahrain was 44.9°C which was recorded on July 19, 2022. The mean minimum temperature of the month was 32.7°C which is 1.3°C above the long-term normal and on record the fourth highest mean minimum temperature for July since 1946.
