Hatem Jerad clinched the coveted Christmas Hamper at Awali Golf Club in a dramatic countback finish, while Nasser Yaqoob Saleh secured the Medal for the best gross score.
Jerad, playing off an 18 handicap, strung together two impressive stretches of four consecutive pars, building a lead that allowed him some leeway despite a stumble on the final hole. James Williamson also carded a strong round, recovering from a triple bogey on the 17th with a birdie on the 18th. Both players finished with a net score of 67, but Jerad’s superior back nine secured him the overall victory.
The Medal for the best gross round went to Nasser Yaqoob Saleh. His steady play, marked by only two bogeys and a single birdie, resulted in a solid 71 gross. This score put him three shots ahead of a trio of players – TD Rashed Al Qutami, Saleh Ali Ghadeer, and Jasper Meinema – who each carded 74.
Prizes for the tournament were generously provided by Bapco Refining and were presented by TD Rashed Al Qutami and club vice-captain Balbir Singh.
