Jeddah: Actress Rekha Honoured at Red Sea Festival Amid 4K ‘Umrao Jaan’ Showcase

Legendary Bollywood actress Rekha was honoured at the 2025 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, celebrating her status as one of Indian cinema’s most iconic stars. She made a rare public appearance at the screening of the restored 4K version of Umrao Jaan, the 1981 film that cemented her legacy.

Dressed in an elegant ivory-and-gold silk saree and adorned with classic jewellery, Rekha radiated timeless grace. She attended the event alongside Umrao Jaan director Muzaffar Ali.

“I am not much of a talker. With Umrao, the dialogues said barely half of what my eyes could feel. My mother used to say, you don’t speak about your achievements or feelings. You don’t teach by preaching. You live by example. Never again will I miss the opportunity to come to the Red Sea International Film Festival. Inshallah,” Rekha said. Her emotional address deeply resonated with the audience.
