His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, planted a tree at the Special Security Force Command headquarters in Safreh, accompanied by His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate.

It was held in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to launch this year’s Tree Week.

The initiative supports the National Afforestation Plan, which aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, in line with Bahrain’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah emphasised the importance of protecting the environment and increasing public awareness of tree planting, as part of Bahrain’s commitment to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

He noted the Ministry’s efforts to expand green spaces at its facilities, support environmental initiatives, and strengthen social responsibility.
