India steps up probe on Bahrain expat’s death

Manama: India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted yesterday that the Indian Embassy has sought investigation into the death of Mr Dineshan , an Indian national from Kerala in Bahrain. She also requested the Mission to share the Investigation report with his family. Manel Vayel Kuni Dineshan(46) was working as an office boy in a private law firm in Manama. He was found dead in suspicious circumstances on February 18 in a hotel in Manama.

Dineshan’s wife Shyni had requested the minister to intervene in the matter and see that a proper investigation is done by the authorities in Bahrain into the suspicious death of her husband and bring the offenders to justice.

She said was informed by the Dineshan’s friends that he was violently attacked by two persons and there were serious injury to his head and other vital parts. The cause of death has been shown as cardio pulmonary arrest in the medical notification. ‘My husband is not suffering from any cardiac illness. He had done all his medical check-up two weeks prior to his death for the purpose of renewing his visa. In his medical report there is no trace of heart ailment,’ she said. She alleged that no proper investigation was done into the real cause of death. ‘I have got every reason to believe that he has been murdered. The above fact can be ascertained by a proper investigation by the concerned authorities, she said in the complaint.

Indian Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Ram Singh told DT News that the embassy has requested the concerned authorities in Bahrain to investigate into the cause of death, as requested by the deceased’s family.
