Housing Minister inspects East Sitra Town project

Manama: The work on the massive East Sitra Town is on track, with the reclamation phase of the residential project completed 95 per cent, informed Minister of Housing Basim Alhamer here yesterday.

During an inspection visit, the Minister announced that the Ministry would start work on the first phase of the project late this year.

The East Sitra Town is one of the biggest projects featured in the Government Action Plan (GAP) to construct 25,000 housing units by 2018.

The project stems from royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to construct 40,000 housing units. “The East Sitra Town is made up of 3,180 housing units and 690 land plots,” Alhamer said, expecting work on the first phase to start later this year.
