Among the most important of the initiatives were a review of government institutional licensing agreements; an enhancement of geospatial data; the issuing of standards and specifications for the surveying and monitoring of service infrastructure sites; improvements to the land survey database; the reengineering of procedures; the development of technical solutions to solve problems being faced by stakeholders; the creation of a timeline for transitioning to cloud-based systems; and capacity building and development of government agency staff through training and awareness programmes.

The National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance was formed pursuant to Resolution No 15 of 2017, issued by His Royal Highness, the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
