Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa presented a detailed explanation of the terrorist plot that was aimed at Bahrain’s security through committing a series of serious criminal acts at the 135th session of the GCC Ministerial Council meeting held in Riyadh yesterday.

In the meet, the Minister said that a number of criminals belonging to the so-called “Saraya Al Ashtar” terrorist organization were arrested. “They are involved in committing a series of criminal acts being supported and given financial aid by third parties. They are also getting military training from terrorist organizations in Iraq to threaten the security and stability of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region,” the Minister explained.

The Ministerial Council in its press release issued after the meeting said that the efficiency of the security services in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia enabled them to uproot terrorist cells and maintain security and stability in the region. It stressed the need to deal firmly with the phenomenon of extremist terrorism.

The Council also condemned the terrorist acts that took place in the Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Qatif and the Al-Anoud Mosque in Dammam. “These criminal acts are contrary to all Islamic values and humanitarian principles.”

The Ministerial Council extended its support for Saudi Arabia in all their efforts against the terrorist organisation Daash. It urged Iran to refrain from issuing statements that lead to discord, sow sectarian feuds and provoke acts of violence and terrorism in the region.

In the Yemeni affairs, the Council noted the efforts of the Special envoy of the Secretary-General of the UN to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, in the framework of the Riyadh Deceleration and UN Security Council Resolution (2216).

The Ministerial Council condemned Huthi aggression towards some border cities in Saudi Arabia and commended the efficiency of the Saudi forces and in responding to all such attacks.

The Council stressed Saudi Arabia’s right in taking all that is necessary to defend its security, stability and protect its citizens and its borders.

The meeting praised choosing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa by the Arab Creators Union (ACU) as the Best Arab National Personality for 2015, in recognition and gratitude for the efforts of His Majesty’s constructive efforts in service of the Arab nation and working to achieve Arab solidarity in all fields.

Discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme, Syrian crisis, the situation in Iraq and Libya were also held during the meeting.
