Fujairah Police Arrest Woman After Viral Sword Video During National Day Celebrations

Fujairah: A 23-year-old woman has been arrested in Fujairah after a video showing her brandishing a sword during Eid Al Etihad celebrations in the Al Faqit area went viral on social media.
In a statement, police described her behaviour as “extremely dangerous” and stressed that such actions do not represent the customs or traditions of the UAE. The statement added that illegal activities that threaten public safety, especially during national occasions, will not be tolerated.
Brigadier General Mohammed bin Nayef Al Tunaiji, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, emphasised that the force, under the Ministry of Interior, enforces the law strictly and takes firm, deterrent measures against violations. He said the aim is to protect the community, ensure public safety, and maintain national celebrations in a manner that reflects the UAE’s values and cultural heritage.
The woman has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
