Germany's newly elected conservative leader, Friedrich Merz, is set to tackle the complex challenge of forming a coalition government. Following his victory, Merz emphasized the urgency of the task, stating, "The world isn’t waiting for us."

As Germany grapples with a recession and heightened divisions in society after a highly polarizing election campaign, Merz faces the tough job of uniting various political factions. He has warned against further political gridlock in Berlin, especially as global issues, including the dynamic leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump, continue to shape world affairs.

With critical issues at stake, Merz aims to quickly establish a functioning government to steer Germany through turbulent times.
