Even a fleeting rain could evoke showers of joy among many people yesterday. The two-minute-long rain did not hinder the Bahraini people from enjoying the rainy weather. The raindrops brought cheers to them as the social media inundated with myriad rain posts.

As soon as the leading Facebook sites of the Kingdom such as Defend Bahrain and Bahrain Breaking News Govt and Safra posted the photos of rain, hundreds of people expressed their joy and shared them.

Though the weatherman had been predicting showers for almost a week, the clouds disappointed Bahrain. But finally, rain landed in the Kingdom. Banker and social media activist Mohammed K Al-Binateej tweeted: “So it finally rained!” Anticipating rain, Al-Binateej had been posting messages on his social media accounts for a couple of days. A twitterati, Harshit K. Shah, was elated over rain. He posted, “Fresh showers, breeze and a dash of sunlight.

Weather can’t be so good.” It’s no doubt that people in Bahrain have been waiting eagerly to experience raindrops since rainfall in Bahrain is minimal and irregular.

A person, who identified as ‘izibizi’ on Tuesday tweeted: “And please don’t rain while I’m sleeping. So badly want to feel raindrops on my palms.” But the same person thanked rain yesterday though it was a brief sojourn.

According to the Interior Ministry, 213 traffic accidents were reported last year due to rain. Director of Traffic Culture at the General Directorate of Traffic, Major Osama Bahar called upon drivers to be cautious while driving during the rain. But it did not deter the rain lovers from dreaming of delightful showers in Bahrain, which records a rainfall of 72 mm per annum. The Meteorological Department said that rains would continue today also.
