NEW YORK: CBS News has terminated its contract with veteran journalist and 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley, ending his decades-long career at the network. The high-profile firing follows months of intensifying internal friction between the award-winning anchor and senior network executives over the editorial direction of CBS's flagship news programs.

According to sources familiar with the decision, the relationship fractured over a series of sharp disagreements regarding broadcast standards and recent controversial interview segments.

Pelley, who previously anchored the CBS Evening News and joined 60 Minutes in 2004, reportedly clashed with management over perceived corporate interference in investigative reporting.

The network's sudden move has sent shockwaves through the industry, as Pelley has long been one of the most recognizable faces in American broadcast journalism. CBS News has declined to comment publicly on the specific HR or contractual disputes that led to the firing, and representatives for Pelley have not yet released an official statement regarding his forced exit.
