The Royal Endurance Team made history yesterday, winning the teams’ title in the FEI Endurance World Championship for Young Riders and Juniors.

The team triumphed in the 120-kilometre race, held in Castelsagrat, France. They outclassed 70 other contenders who took part in the contest, thus ending its European season in style.

His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Royal Endurance Team Captain, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

“This particular category (the young and junior riders) is regarded as the cornerstone for a promising and radiant future, as it has consistently produced remarkable achievements over the past period,” HH Shaikh Nasser said.

HH Shaikh Nasser hailed the care and support accorded by HM the King, which enabled Bahrain’s endurance sport to reach an international level and triumph at European and global competitions. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad also extended congratulations to the UAE endurance riders who finished first and second in the race at the individual level.

The Royal Endurance Team finished first after three riders succeeded to complete the fourstage race successfully.

Team Victorious rider Isa Hameed Al Enzi finished third to clinch the individual bronze medal, clocking six hours, 14 minutes, and 54 seconds.

Teammates Abdulla Al Ashaer Al Ruae (Team Victorious) and Sultan Abdulaziz Al Romaihi (Al Zaeem Team) finished fourth and sixth, respectively.

A ceremony will be held today to crown the UAE riders, in addition to Al Enzi, who booked a berth on the podium. Apart from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Tunisia, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Mauritania, Malaysia, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Indonesia, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the USA, and France also took part in the race.
