Bahrain – in line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s royal directives – is investing for a better, progressive and greener future.

It is implementing more than 20 major development projects worth over $30 billion under a new Strategic Projects Plan to drive investment, advance infrastructure, create jobs, boost the economy and enhance its long-term competitiveness.

The huge amount will be injected into national infrastructure and other strategic priority sectors as part of an ambitious Economic Recovery Plan, which is designed particularly to stimulate post-pandemic and achieve sustainable growth.

The details of the new multi-year development projects were announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, at a press conference held yesterday.

Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was also present in the occasion along with ministers, representatives from the Economic Development Board (EDB) and other senior officials.

They reviewed the most prominent features of the priority development projects, which come hand in hand with the other priorities of the Economic Recovery Plan to create job opportunities and make the citizens the first choice in the labour market; facilitate commercial procedures and increase their effectiveness, and develop promising sectors.

The plan comprises 22 signature projects across key sectors, including telecoms, tourism, education, housing, manufacturing, health and youth and sports.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah, who is also Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure, said that the launch of this initiative is in line with the Economic Vision 2030, a comprehensive strategy for the Kingdom’s economic development which aims to enhance the standards of living of all people, both the Bahraini citizens and foreign residents.
