Bahrain Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Human Trafficking

On the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Bahrain’s Acting Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, Yusuf bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, highlighted the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to combat all forms of human trafficking.

He stressed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain has strengthened its position as a regional leader in this field. This comes through an integrated approach that focuses on robust legislation, preventive measures, and alignment with international labor and human rights standards.

The minister noted that protecting human rights and fighting trafficking are core principles of Bahrain’s governance, emphasizing values of justice, equality, and safeguarding freedoms. He explained that the country’s national strategy includes legal action against violators, preventive initiatives in the labor market, and awareness campaigns targeting both workers and employers.

Khalaf also highlighted the importance of enhancing guidance services and using modern technology to improve monitoring and response mechanisms. He praised the role of government agencies and civil society in supporting victims, providing them with protection and empowerment.

He concluded by stating that combating human trafficking is a shared national responsibility, calling for continued cooperation to maintain Bahrain’s position as a model in protecting human rights.
