Dr. Al Qahtani said that while other countries have shown a clear escalation in the number of active cases, Bahrain has been moving towards “flattening the curve” in battling the coronavirus.

On her part, Dr. Al Salman said that of all the active COVID-19 cases registered in Bahrain, 16.8 percent are experiencing symptoms and only 1.2per cent requires treatment and medication.

On discussing Ramadan fasting amongst active COVID-19 patients, Dr. Al Salman noted the insufficiency of data and studies on fasting and its implications in regards to the virus. She said that healthy patients are able to fast. However, active COVID-19 patients who would like to fast would need to consult with their doctors before doing so.
